Canary Jane Rainbow | Utah Birth Story | Arizona Birth Photographer
This utah birth story was so much fun to be a part of and to capture. It was so much fun to work with Natashia (of Canary Jane) to tell the story of Baby R’s big debut.
There was a HUGE snowstorm the day Baby R was born, like feet of snow fell in just a couple of hours. Because of the crazy weather I was itching to get to the hospital because I didn’t want to miss anything when the time came. Natashia had scheduled and induction so things were progressing fairly regularly.
When I got to the hospital I found Natashia the same room where I had delivered Emi. She was bouncing on an exercise ball, eating ice chips and cracking jokes. She was handling the pitocin induced contractions like a champ. And before long she started painting, bet you’ve never seen that in a birth story before.
Then things started getting real. The contractions were coming hard and fast. Natashia had planned for a natural birth, despite the induction, and had two amazing doula’s constantly applying counter pressure and doing whatever else they could to help her through contractions. But after a while things stopped progressing. Natashia decided to get an epidural so she could relax and labor could begin progressing again (not unlike my own birth story).
Things moved quickly after that and before long it was time to push and Baby R was here. One of Natashia’s priorities was capturing her kids meeting their newest brother. Even though it was getting late I knew I had to stick around. While grandma went to get his siblings I spent some time with Mom & Dad as they chose their baby boy’s name.
Natashia wrote 2 blog posts about her experience working with me. 8 Reasons to hire a birth photographer and Birth Story of our Rainbow.
