Desert Botanical Garden Family Pictures | Phoenix Family Photographer
How do you decide where to take your family pictures? Do you want a specific backdrop? Sweeping natural landscapes or an urban, city feel? Maybe water is an important feature like a lake or a river? Or maybe there is a place that is special to your family? That last one, that’s how the Hill family chose the Desert Botanical Garden for their family pictures. They had a history with the garden, Darcy had worked there for a few years but most importantly, it’s where they were married. For their first family pictures as a family of three, they knew they couldn’t go anywhere else. It had to be the Desert Botanical Gardens.
I love it when the locations in my sessions are more than just a pretty backdrop. I love it when they’re part of the story. It was so much fun to experience the garden for the first time guided by the Hill family as they showed me “This is the exact spot we stood when we said ‘I do.'” or “This is where we did our first look.” It was special to document the next chapter back in the place where it all began.
So, how do you decide where to take your family pictures? My style guide advises: “This is the time to think outside the box! I encourage you to brainstorm unique locations that you might have special access to that most people don’t. For example, maybe you, or someone in your personal or professional network, can secure permission to a location that would otherwise be off-limits,” like the Desert Botanical Gardens at sunrise, 2 hours before opening. 😀
