Little Girl Cake Smash | Emi One Year Old | Arizona Family Photographer
Emi’s one year old cake smash had a cute little girl theme. We actually got the dress, tutu, cake stand, garlands, tulle canopy, and pom-poms from someone on the facebook marketplace (love that place!) and I procrastinated so we didn’t pick them up until the morning of Emi’s birthday.
DIY Cake for a Little Girl
Don’t be too impressed but I made the cake myself and you totally can too! Let me share my DIY secrets. I used ramekins to cook my cakes, they had a smaller diameter which I felt fit better on my cake stand. I ended up doing 3 layers and then used this icing in a can to do the roses. It may also be available in your local grocery store, that’s where I got mine. It comes with different tips for different icing effects and I just used the flower tip and moved it in circles to create the roses. If you’re nervous practice on a paper towel first. It made it so easy to DIY a little girls cake!
I wish I would have..
The only thing I wish I would have done differently is waited until after Emi’s nap. We’d had a big morning. We ran up to Murray to pick up the decorations and get Rego her immunization shots and then came home and played with Emi’s new kiddie pool (her birthday present). I got a little excited and pushed to fit in this photo shoot too and it resulted in a tired, grumpy baby who was less than cooperative. I am still very happy with the end result I just know she probably would have been more animated and adventurous if she hadn’t been so tired. That’s why Matt had to jump into a few frames, to help Emi find her smile.
