Pictures at Papago Park | Hole in the Rock | East Valley Photographer
I LOVE this session. This is Kelsea, my beautiful sister-in-law and we’d been planning this session for months before it finally happened. We’d carefully selected this flowy yellow skirt and Kelsea styled it perfectly for this rugged terrain. We were both so excited that we kinda let common sense go out the window 5 minutes into the session when I asked Kelsea to climb up on a rock with heels on. Everything was good for about 2 minutes and then, just as I stood back to compose my shot, Kelsea started to fall. I feel like I watched it in slow motion through my camera lens and couldn’t move fast enough to stop it. Thank heaven she didn’t fall too far and only sustained a few cuts and bruises. I felt horrible! Definitely my worst moment as a photographer.
We could have ended it right then. I mean I wouldn’t have blamed her. I just let her fall off a rock and she was bleeding. But she chose to get back up on that rock (without the heels this time) and totally KILLED this photo shoot. These are some of my favorite shots EVER and I’m so grateful that a) Kelsea didn’t get seriously hurt and b) that she didn’t let it stop us from capturing this magic. Because seriously these are MAGIC! In the end we decided this session turned out totally warrior princess. What do you think?
