Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch | Mini Session
I loved being back the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch for this mini family session. Sarah and her family had recently moved to Arizona and they wanted a backdrop that screamed desert to commemorate their move, the Riparian provides that and so much more, like the fact that it’s dog friendly.
I love that this sweet family brought their adorable little pup to be part of their session. Anyone who owns a dog knows they’re just another member of the family, so why should they be excluded from family pictures?
When working with dogs at my sessions I tend to treat them just like young children. I want to work fast and take the shots they’re in first before they get too bored. And of course reward good behavior with lots and lots of treats!
If you want to bring your dog to your family session I am always game, just let me know so I can plan accordingly and find a dog friendly location. Bring water and treats for your fur-baby and come prepared with tips for me about how to get them to look at the camera. For example, maybe they always perk their ears up when you say “squirrel!” Most dogs have a word that gets their attention, pay attention and experiment so you can tell me what your pet’s is.
